Political Cartoon 7 (4/13/11)

1. In this cartoon there are two main boxes of text, the first and most obvious is a speech coming from what appears to be a baby Donald Trump, already yelling and giving orders so early in his life. What he says to me, is a poke at Obama and his birth certificate controversy as noted by Trump saying "You want me to run for president, I'm gonna need a birth certificate!" Other bits of humor include the line "Get me my birth certificate right now or you're fired!", a little joke making reference to Trumps infamous line.

2. The only objects in this cartoon are ten or so babies in a hospital nursery just after birth, included within them, the young Donny Trump.

3. The action taking place is the baby Donald Trump giving his ten cents to the rest of the babies/staff in the hospital and most likely surrounding rooms, given the all caps font and various exclamation points.

4. The message of the cartoon to me, is that the artist wanted to portray Donald Trump as a generally grumpy and stubborn guy, most likely not the artist favorite for the upcoming presidential election in 2012. If had had to give this cartoon an ideology, I would give this a moderate to slightly left on the ideology scale. I'm in between the two because the artist is poking fun at a likely republican for [resident, but on the other hand, I'm sure both republicans and democrats have a mutual dislike for The Donald.

5. This cartoon relates directly to next years presidential election and how Mr. Trump plans to make a run for it despite much disagreement and opposition.

6. There is not much irony in this cartoon however it is somewhat rich in satire, making fun of the controlling and demanding tone Trump uses much of the time, at least on the air. Another bit of humor is the quote from the mini-sized doctors saying "IT has a mother??" pointing fun at the fact that any women could give birth to such a being.

Political Cartoon 6 (4/6/11)

1. The caption used in this cartoon is "But the good news is nobody smuggled a six-ounce shampoo bottle aboard..." which is used to poke fun at the tedious search and all of the things they check for yet there are still many problems with air travel today. The bit at the bottom "the airline provides the blow-dryer" is just a side bit for the cartoon as it shows the passengers sitting roofless, with their hair moving with the breeze.

2. In this cartoon, there is simply a plane with its roof detached, showing the passengers shouting inside the plane. I believe the artist was just trying to represent how ridiculous  the airline business is when the confiscate bottles of hair product, but still face so many obstacles and dangers.

3. In this cartoon, the artist depicts what appears to be a Southwest plane flying through the air with no roof, poking fun at the recent events concerning planes in the United States that were reportedly shot at.

4. I think the artist is trying to say that the Air Travel industry, more specifically security, almost tries too hard in a sense, yet there are still many obstacles that they cannot control. I think this cartoon represents a liberal ideology due to the quote "But the good news is nobody smuggled a six-ounce shampoo bottle aboard..." which to me pokes fun at the security and to me leans more toward the attitude of privacy over security.

5. This cartoon ties in directly with the recent events concerning a Southwest plane that was reportedly shot at shortly after take-off.

6. In this cartoon satire is a big card. The quote "But the good news is nobody smuggled a six-ounce shampoo bottle aboard..." is a direct shot at the security branch of air travel, and how secure, yet ineffective it may be.
